Pidgin (formerly Gaim) is a powerful cross-platform instant messaging client, which supports numerous protocols and lets its users login with more than one account to one or more messaging networks.

Pidgin is compatible with the following chat networks out of the box: AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, QQ, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MXit, MySpaceIM, and Zephyr. It can support many more with plugins.

- Fix a potential remote denial-of-service bug related to displaying buddy icons.
- Significantly improved performance of larger IRC channels (regression introduced in 2.8.0).
