Each race in Roguish will have its own spell book.  So any race be it Humans, Woof elf, Deep elf, Mountain dwarf or Hill dwarf will have its own book of spells to pull from.  Yup Dwarf spell casters are possible.  Note there are some "generic" spells which cross over between all the races, but there are specific spells for each race.  This creates a currency of magic in the game between races, and players.  In addition after the first spells are learned at character creation, you do not get anymore "automatic" spells.  It's up to the referee to add additional spells into the game!  I never agreed with fighter types having to fight and quest for magic equipment, weapons and armor while spell casters simply got more powerful by leveling up.

In addition, the referee will have access to Ancient spells and Chaos spells to spice up their own campaign world with.  Ancient spells  and Chaos spells are not found in any race's spell books, nor in the player's book.  Instead they can be discovered, or inflicted upon players as a referee allows. 

My hope is this puts "magic" back into the game session and adds a different kind of excitement, interaction, and incentive for magic based players as well as their fellow adventurers.
